Degrees Offered
Associate of Arts / Associate of Science
The Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Science (AS) degrees are transfer degrees awarded without major designation. These degrees indicate that a student has completed a course of study essentially equivalent to the first two years of a baccalaureate degree. Usually, the AA degree is the best choice for students majoring in humanities, liberal arts, or the social sciences. The AS degree is usually the best option for students majoring in math, science, engineering, or business.
Associate of Applied Science
The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees are awarded in specific career occupational fields. These degrees are designed to prepare students for immediate entry into employment, but may be transferred to baccalaureate degree programs at selected four-year institutions. AAS degrees are currently offered in the following areas:

DCC Vocational One-Year Certificates:
Classification of Students:
- Full-Time:
- Students registered for 12 or more credit hours of class.
- Part-Time:
- Students registered for fewer than 12 credit hours.
- Freshman:
- Students that have completed 12 credit hours.
- Sophomore:
- Students that have completed 30 or more credits.
Curricula:
DCC offers college level courses in a variety of disciplines. College level classes are numbered 100 - 299. Generally, those identified as 100 - 199 are freshman level; those identified as 200 - 299 are sophomore level courses.
Grade Changes:
Any course at DCC may be repeated; however, credit will be granted for the course only once. When a course is repeated, the previous credits and grade will be "lined out" on the transcript and the last credits and grade will become official. Students receiving financial aid should check with the Financial Aid Officer before repeating a course.
Grade changes are not allowed after one semester has elapsed
without an appeal. The student must appeal through the office of the Dean
of Instruction.
Incomplete ("I") Grades:
Students are expected to complete course work for a class during the time designated. If for some reason this is not possible, the student may request extra time to finish the work and a grade of "I" will be assigned.
Scholastic Honors:
Full-time students (those carrying loads of 12 credits or more) who earn a grade point average (G.P.A.) of 3.5 or higher for the semester will be placed on the Dean's List. Those whose G.P.A. is at least 3.25 and less than 3.5 are given honorable mention. Names of students with "I" grades will not be placed on these lists.
Transfer of Credit:
The student who wishes to transfer credits to another institution should plan their work accordingly. Although students receive academic advising, the student must assume responsibility for knowing the requirements of the college or university at which they will later study. Colleges and universities vary in their policies regarding what courses may be credited toward advanced standing. DCC has every assurance from the units of the Montana University System that courses properly selected and credits earned will be accepted.
Transcripts of credits earned at DCC will be sent to the registrars of transfer institutions only upon written request of the transferring student.
