The Dawson Community College Annual 2013 Fall Juried Student Art Show Reception and Awards Presentation, was held on Tuesday, December 10.
Art Lovers President Mike Simons, Biology instructor Jennifer Temple and Director of Finance Kathleen Zander took on the challenge of choosing the winners from over 100 works of art.
Gretchen Bederman, Art Instructor at DCC, is proud to announce the winners in each of nine categories.
As Dawson Community College students, faculty, staff and administration anticipate Thanksgiving break, Sue Peterson, DCC Assistant Librarian, prepares to draw the winning tickets for “Club 300 Art Students After Hours” second 50/50 Raffle on Tuesday November 26th. Club 300 President Lorraine Cronin spins the ticket cage and voila Sue reveals the three winners. Third Place winner of the fruit and candy basket went to Marilyn Green, art student and DEAP assistant.
The Dawson Community College Art Department is proud to present the outstanding art works of the talented and creative student artists of Dawson Community College. Forty-five students will be exhibiting their artwork in the Dawson Community College 2013 8th Annual Fall Juried Student Art Show. Show runs Monday November 22 – Thursday December 12

Tickets for the twenty-first annual Dawson Community College Madrigal Dinner are on sale now at the DCC business office. The Madrigal Dinner will be held in the Toepke Center Lobby on December 7. Transformed into the Renaissance castle, doors open at 5:30 p.m. with feasting and festivities commencing at 6. Characters will delight castle guests with vocal and instrumental music, jesters, jugglers, actors, and dancers. Time honored processions featuring Wassail, Boar’s Head, and Flaming Pudding transport the audience throughout the evening.
Winners of the 5th Annual Halloween Art Contest sponsored by the Dawson Community College ASB, Write Club and Art Department were announced Monday. The competition was open to aspiring art students. Barrett Jordan, IT Specialist, and Jane Wynne, Director of Public Relations judged the art works submitted. To help fund their future creative interests, all winners received a cash award.
DCC music department students are currently selling pottery mugs with your choice of DCC, DCC Alumni, DCC Mom or DCC Dad inscription. The hand thrown pottery mugs are created by alumnus, Amanda Heimbuch. In addition, the department continues their yearly Sturgis Coffee sales and Hansen’s beef sticks, cheese, soup mix and much more. Emily Prouty, trumpet, will be giving her senior recital in fulfillment of the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts in Music Education on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 7:30 pm in Cisel Hall on the University campus.
Dawson Community College "Gallery 126" presents "Deep Contours", an exhibit of unique Abstract Paintings by Annette Marchand. The exhibit will be on display from Friday, September 27 through December 20. An artist reception for Marchand is scheduled Friday, September 27 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. As always, everyone is welcome to come meet the artist, enjoy the artwork, conversation, and refreshments. On Saturday, September 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Marchand will conduct an "Abstract Painting" Workshop in the Ullman Center art room.
