Winners of the 5th Annual Halloween Art Contest sponsored by the Dawson Community College ASB, Write Club and Art Department were announced Monday. The competition was open to aspiring art students. Barrett Jordan, IT Specialist, and Jane Wynne, Director of Public Relations judged the art works submitted. To help fund their future creative interests, all winners received a cash award.
DCC music department students are currently selling pottery mugs with your choice of DCC, DCC Alumni, DCC Mom or DCC Dad inscription. The hand thrown pottery mugs are created by alumnus, Amanda Heimbuch. In addition, the department continues their yearly Sturgis Coffee sales and Hansen’s beef sticks, cheese, soup mix and much more. Emily Prouty, trumpet, will be giving her senior recital in fulfillment of the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts in Music Education on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 7:30 pm in Cisel Hall on the University campus.
Dawson Community College "Gallery 126" presents "Deep Contours", an exhibit of unique Abstract Paintings by Annette Marchand. The exhibit will be on display from Friday, September 27 through December 20. An artist reception for Marchand is scheduled Friday, September 27 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. As always, everyone is welcome to come meet the artist, enjoy the artwork, conversation, and refreshments. On Saturday, September 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Marchand will conduct an "Abstract Painting" Workshop in the Ullman Center art room.
Photographs taken by talented photographers were on display in the Main Building Hallway Gallery at DCC from April 15 through May 6.
This years Jurors included President Jane Baker, Dean Joyce Ayre, and Extended Learning Director MaryAnn Vester. They chose winners for seven categories.

Jurors for the Spring show were DCC staff members Deb Vogel, Virginia Boysun and Laura Quale. The show encompassed artwork in many mediums and required careful review by the judges.

The Opus Society is currently seeking contestants for Dawson Idol to be held May 4, 6 p.m. in the Dawson Community College Auditorium. In its fifth year, this event promises to present some of the best vocal talent in eastern Montana. Title of Dawson Idol will be determined by an average of audience and judge scores.
The Dawson Community College Art Department is proud to present the outstanding art works of the talented and creative student artists of Dawson Community College. Forty-one students will be exhibiting their artwork in the Dawson Community College 2013 Annual Spring Juried Student Art Show.
Dawson Community College art students are getting creative in the great outdoors of Eastern Montana. Gretchen Bederman's Foundations of Art students fired their raku glazed self portrait masks Tuesday April 16 with Jordan Pehler and his traveling raku kiln. Pehler is the Education Director and artist-in-residence at the Miles City Waterworks Museum. See students' finished masks in the Annual Spring Student Art Show opening on Monday, April 22.
