DCC student Tyler Chamberlain demonstrated his A-game Friday, March 23 when the Circle H.S. Music Technology students visited campus. Tyler gave a one hour hands-on short course to Tiel Hart, Naomi Nagel and their teacher, Steven Kotson. Students performed and recorded in the DCC studio, while Tyler demonstrated the capabilities of various software used in the DCC Music Tech program. It truly was service learning at its best and a great relationship was developed between the two music programs.
Ron Conrad's direction of "A Nice Family Gathering," a comedy by Phil Olson, is a welcome summons to witness the chaos of a dysfunctional family reunion, complete with a patriarchal ghost.
The Opus Society is currently seeking contestants for Dawson Idol to be held March 30 at the Dawson Community College Auditorium. This is the third year for the event and promises to present some of the best vocal musical talent in eastern Montana. Title of Dawson Idol will be determined by the contestant receiving the greatest audience and judge support. The audience vote will contribute half of the final decision. Members of the judge’s panel are chosen from past music department alumni and active members of the surrounding music community.
As many of you know, there are numerous students at Dawson Community College who are bursting with artistic potential. Well, now you have the opportunity to see some of their artwork. The DCC Art Club’s members as well as other students with a passion for the arts are contributing some of their work to a show at The Gallery in downtown Glendive.
William Charles Harbort a.k.a. Billy Chuck is originally from New York where he worked as a commercial artist; a package designer for a major cosmetics company, an art director for a children's educational software company and an automotive magazine illustrator. Bill is currently a Professor in the art department at Minot State University. "Being a college professor has provided me the opportunity to explore.... my painting is driven by thoughts; commercial art, pop culture and bits of ephemera.
Digital photos for the First Annual Photo Contest must be submitted between February 13 and April 2. All Dawson Community College Students and Employees are eligible to enter.
Photographs must be shot by the entrant since January 2011. All photos must be entered into one of the category descriptions; Activities & People, Landscape & Still Life or Photo Fantasy.
Dawson Community College "Gallery 126" opens the Spring semester with an Artists Reception on Saturday, January 21 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The new exhibit "Blast From the Past" features the artwork of alumnae Lacey Winderl Lee, Caroline Greiman, and Emily Fitterman, and alumnus Bobby Cisco. Come meet the artists and experience their artwork. Everybody is invited.

In conjunction with the 20th Annual Madrigal Dinner, Dawson Community College Music Department will test your memory of past madrigals in the form of a trivia contest. Questions will be posted on the DCC website November 18, 21, 23, 28, and 30. The person with the most correct answers will receive a free Madrigal Dinner ticket. In case of a tie, a drawing will be held for the winning ticket. If a person has already purchased their ticket, their money will be refunded.
The Dawson Community College Art Department is proud to present the outstanding art works of the talented and creative student artists of Dawson Community College. Thirty-seven students will be exhibiting their artwork in the Dawson Community College Annual 2011 Fall Juried Student Art Show.
