Meg Mulvena has found a new home with the Dawson Community College Rodeo program for 2013-14. Daughter of Shawn & Sally Mulvena of Rockglen, Saskatchewan, Meg excels at Goat Tying, Breakaway Roping, Barrel Racing, and Team Roping.
"Meg is a decorated cowgirl who exemplifies what it truly means to be a champion." said DCC rodeo coach Kortney Diegel.
Buccaneer women's coach Tracey Clingingsmith announced the signing of Kanani Birdinground of Hardin Montana, to a letter of intent for the 2013-14 academic year.
Birdinground has been an aggressive, 5'11, forward for the Hardin High School Bulldogs. She was averaging 14.1 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists per game. "Kanani is an incredibly athletic and naturally gifted player. Coach Clingingsmith said. "We are very excited to have her at Dawson and look forward to seeing her play at the next level."
Dawson Athletics and women's basketball coach Tracey Clingingsmith are happy to announce a new member to the Buccaneer team. Ashtyn Aumueller has become one of the newest members of the Dawson Community College Women's Basketball program for the 2013 season.
A soon-to-be Columbus High School grad, Aumueller stands 5'11 and played forward for the Cougars averaging 9 points and 6 rebounds per game during her senior year in the Central A Conference.
The Dawson women's basketball program and head coach Tracey Clingingsmith announced the signing of Kaylyn Delaney this week. She is a 6-foot forward for Grass Range High School in Montana and daughter to Troy and Gina Delaney of Grass Range.
Delaney was awarded All State Honors in both her Junior and Senior years as well as First Team All Conference both years. She helped lead her team to the State Championship game this season where they took second by just six points.
The softball game played in Columbus, NE, Monday May 6, resulted in a win and a first-time REGION IX CHAMPIONSHIP for the Dawson Community College Lady Buccaneers.
Athletic Director, Joyce Ayre, announced an enthusiastic "Congratulations!" today to the Lady Buc student-athletes, coach Jim LeProwse and assistant coach Kim Crone.
The Buccaneers went 3-0 in the tournament and defeated Central Columbus Community College 4-3 in the championship game.
Coach Tracey Clingingsmith is pleased to annound that Ashtyn Aumueller of Columbus, MT and Kaylyn Delaney of Grass Range, MT have signed letters of intent to play for the Dawson Community College Lady Buccaneers next season.
Zach Johnson had a strong rodeo, qualifying for the short-go in both the steer wrestling and the tie down roping. Johnson won the short-go in the steer wrestling with a time of 5.4 seconds, placing him second in the average. Johnson finished the tie down roping in 37.1 seconds on two head, good enough for sixth in the average.
Sierra Trusnovec and Candace Chevallier's team roping run of 13.2 seconds made it back to the short-go, where the girls stopped the clock at 16.5 seconds. Trusnovec and Chevallier finished sixth in both the short-go and the average.

The Athletic Department at Dawson Community College has just confirmed DCC will host the NORTH PLAINS DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP (May 18-19, 2013) at Kolberg Field in Glendive Montana.
The NJCAA Regional winners from Region 9, Region 13, and Region 11 will have match up to see who will advance to the Division II World Series.
