Baseball Signs Junior College Transfer and Welcomes Back Former Player

Braxton Davis, a right handed 1B/OF from Clinton, Utah.

Brent Diegel, Head Coach of the Dawson Community College baseball program, has announced the signing of Braxton Davis, a right handed 1B/OF from Clinton, Utah. Davis is 6-2 and weighs 220 pounds. As a senior in 2008 at Northridge High School, Davis batted .440 with 10 homeruns and 29 RBIs. His outstanding play earned him an opportunity to play at Clarendon College in Texas, an NJCAA Division 1 program. During his 2009 freshman season at Clarendon, Braxton batted .320, hit 8 homeruns and drove in 41 runs.

Dawson Community College is once again adding honor and memorial names to the hardwood floor of the Toepke Center Gymnasium. Names will be printed in 1 inch letters around the main court for a $200 per name donation. Honoring a friend or relative in this way is a unique tribute and a lasting legacy that lends support to all Buccaneer athletic programs.

Volleyball 2nd in the Nation for academic excellence

Joyce Ayre Dawson Community College Athletic Director is proud to announce the Women’s Buccaneer Volleyball team has been recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) as second in the nation for academic excellence.

DCC Women’s Volleyball Head Coach, John Marble, is excited and not completely surprised by the honor. “Academics have always been a focus of this program, we believe that you can be successful in the classroom and on the court. This is a huge honor and it validates the attitudes and efforts of the players.”

Dawson Community College Head Baseball Coach Brent Diegel is excited to announce the signing of two outstanding student athletes for next season. McKay Hedin and Hunter Balmer, both from Utah, will join the Buccaneers clubhouse in the fall.

Members of the Dawson Community College FFA/ AG Club will show off their muscles by offering themselves up for auction at the 2010 GATE Banquet Saturday, February 13th to be held at the EPEC. Banquet social hour starts at 6pm and dinner at 7pm.

Available for bid, 3 teams of two Agriculture students each and one single Agriculture student. Each team or single student is donating 8 hours of labor to the winning bidder. The clubs goal is to raise funds for additional educational opportunities in agriculture on the Dawson Community College campus.

DCC Volleyball Tryouts Set

“It’s a great opportunity to get in the gym and play and get information on what it’s like to play in college”.

Tryouts have been set for the Dawson Community College volleyball team. Coach John Marble invites all high school players to join the Lady Buccaneers at the Toepke Center at 2 p.m. Feb. 8. “It’s a great opportunity to get in the gym and play and get information on what it’s like to play in college,” he said. “It’s a chance to see firsthand what college athletics is all about.”

Jordan Brady wasn't heavily recruited out of high school where he was a first-team all-state selection.

From time to time around the water cooler the topic comes up about what happens to the kids who travel through Glendive with a pit stop for sports at Dawson Community College and whether their experience preps them for their future...and from time to time we hear from former Buccaneers about why it was an important step in the career.  We have another one of those stories for you.

Volleyball player headed to university squad

Freshman Ariel Johnson was recruited by Coach Katie Howells from the University of Montana Western in Dillon.

A Dawson Community College Volleyball player is transferring to a four-year program.
Freshman Ariel Johnson was recruited by Coach Katie Howells from the University of Montana Western in Dillon.
She said she will begin school in Dillon after Christmas.
"I feel like it's kind of a step up going to a four-year program," she said.
Johnson, a Kalispell native, said she looks forward to being closer to her home town with the move.
Also, she said, she looks forward to playing for a bigger school.

Basketball theme games planned

DCC Basketball is headed back to the ‘70s with the first of several themed games for the season! Polyester leisure suits, bell bottom pants and platform shoes will be back in fashion as DCC hosts the United Tribes Technical College in Mon-Dak basketball action on Saturday the 12th of December.

DCC Women Beat Alumni

Bucs’ Tia Emerson led all scorers with 27 including eight 3-pointers.

On Nov. 20 and 21 many former women’s basketball players returned to Dawson Community College to challenge the current team. This year’s team took it to the alumni, the Coca-Cola All-Stars, winning both games, 92-37 and 75-51.
