Dawson Community College volleyball has added a setters’ specialty camp to its summer offerings.
Setters’ camp is set for July 13 and 14 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the DCC Toepke Center. Both middle school and high school age players are encouraged to participate, sharpening their skills in a setter-focused environment. “Setting camp is a great opportunity to spend time focused on setting,” said John Marble, DCC volleyball coach. Cost is $25.
Dawson Community College baseball coach Brent Diegel is very excited to announce the signing of Tanner Newman for the upcoming 2009-2010 season. The 6 foot 1 inch, 170 pound Newman, who bats from the left side and throws right-handed, is from Bozeman, Montana. He redshirted as a freshman at Tacoma Community College last season.
Registration is under way for the Dawson Community College Buccaneer Basketball Skills Camps that will be held July 6th-8th on the DCC campus.
Dawson Community College Rodeo Coach Rod Paschke has been selected the 2009 Big Sky Region Rodeo Coach of the Year. This year’s selection was made by the eight head coaches from the Big Sky and the Big Sky Regional Staff. Regional Director Del Nose, who is also the head rodeo coach at Northwest College in Powell, WY, commented that “Rod has done a great job with his rodeo teams and his rodeo.
Dawson Community College Buccaneers Baseball coach Brent Diegel is pleased to announce the signing of two more players to national letters of intent for the coming 2009-2010 season.
From Hardin, Ryan Gratwohl is 5’10”, 175 pounds and currently plays for the Billings Royals-American Legion team. Ryan’s stats include a batting average of .305 an on base percentage of .450 and a pitching record of 2-0 with 1 save. According to Coach Diegel, “Ryan will add depth to the Buccaneer catching core”.
Dawson Community College Men's Basketball coach Don Mast invites all Montana high schools to participate in the 2nd Annual Dawson Community College/Dawson County High School Basketball Tourney.
The Dawson Community College Men’s & Women’s golf teams travelled to Rapid City to compete in the South Dakota School of Mines Invitational, April 19 & 20th. The tournament was held at Meadowbrook GC, a very tight 7100 yard long course which will host the 2009 NAIA Women’s National Tournament in mid May.
Cameron Belcher led the Bucs on day one with a 74, which placed him in second individually. The Bucs team shot a 327, garnering fourth place, 14 strokes behind the first day leader-Minot State.
The Dawson Community College Spring 2009 Horsemanship Clinic will be held April 18th and 19th at the J&A Arena from 8am to 4pm. Clinician, Pat Mitchell, of Pat Mitchell Performance Horses from Shepherd Montana will instruct. Pat focuses on finishing horses in Reining, Roping and Western Pleasure. He has worked with various breeds, creating light and responsive horses that move off aids freely and willingly. His horses have gone on to compete at many levels.
Josh Link took the mound for Dawson Community College Saturday against the University of Mary JV. Six innings later Link walked off the mound with a ‘no-hitter’ to his credit.
Link and his Buccaneer teammates picked up a 10-0 triumph over Mary in their second game in the Subway tournament held at DCC’s Kolberg Field. Link allowed a total of just four base runners throughout his six innings of work. One Marauder reached on an error and three more reached via the way of a base on balls. Link also struck out eight batters in the contest.
The Buccaneer softball team picked up a win over Trinidad State Junior College on Monday at Baker Field by the final of 2 to 1. This was the lone win for Dawson Community College in a four-game series with TSJC. On Sunday Trinidad came away with three wins over Dawson.
In Monday’s contest Trinidad picked up their lone run in the bottom of the first inning.
With one out Karissa Fenstermacher singled to start the rally. Rikki Fedler followed with a single to drive in Fenstermacher.
