Estimated Costs of Books
The cost of books per semester for a student taking 13 credits averages around $300.00.   This amount varies according to a students field of study, and the number of credits he/she is taking.
Payment Information
Payment is expected at time of purchase unless prior arrangements have been made ie; scholarship students (basketball & rodeo only).  The bookstore accepts cash, checks for the amount of purchase only, money orders, Visa, Master Card, and Discovery Card.

Returns/Refunds

  • Full refunds on textbooks will be allowed during the first two weeks of the semester.  No Return on books after the 14th day into the semester.
  • Absolutely no returns/refunds without sales receipts.
  • No return on new books in less than perfect condition or which have been written in or marked in anyway.  Books that were purchased with a shrink wrap seal, the seal must not be broken, or it will be considered a used book.  If book is purchased used, it must still be in good condition.
  • If book is returned with any highlighting, pencil or pen marks, it will be considered a used book, and the return price will be adjusted accordingly. 

Book Buy Back

  • The Bookstore has book buy back during finals week, at the end of each semester ONLY!  No exceptions.
  • Books are bought back at 50% of the purchase price.
  • The status of a book for buyback is established by the faculty and the bookstore.
  • Books may not be bought back under the following conditions:    
    • It will not be used again at DCC, or it has not been determined if the book will be used again at DCC.
    • It is superseded by a new edition.
    • The Bookstore is overstocked.
    • The book is in poor condition.     
    • The instructor chooses to change to a different text.
  • Books that we cannot buy back may have a wholesale value.  The buy back price is determined by the the used book companies. The following criteria is in accordance with the national used book companies and DCC Bookstore:
    • All pencil must be erased prior to buy back.
    • An additional 25% will be deducted from the buy back price if underlined in ink. 
    • Highlighting is acceptable if book is in resalable condition.
Authorized Charges (Vocational Rehabilitation, BIA, Job Service, Workman's Comp). 
Students that are considered clients of these services, and have been pre-approved by them, may charge books/supplies up to a set limit as outlined in their contracts.  Students must have prior approval, and must notify the bookstore before making purchases that they are on one of these programs.  Students on these programs may choose to keep their books at semester end or sell them back as determined in their contract.

Scholarship Students

  • Textbooks must be part of your scholarship to qualify for books on loan.  Currently this includes only Basketball & Rodeo, both men & womens.
  • Only textbooks can be charged.  No work books or study guides.  No books that are designed to be written in.
  • All books must be returned at semester end.  You may not sell them back for cash.
  • Books that are damaged or not returned will have to be paid for.  If the student has a delinquent account, their transcripts and grades will not be released.
