The Dawson Community College men earned the team title at Sunday's University of Montana Spring Rodeo. The DCC men's team finished ahead MSU collecting 560 points.
Buccaneer Dustin Jenkins qualified for the CNFR in the Bull Riding event earning 2nd place in the region. Originally from the Bitterroot Valley Jenkins scored a 65 to win the average. (See Dustin's ride courtesy of Derek Buerkle (KPAX Sports)).

The Dawson Community College rodeo in Glendive Montana offered a full weekend of cowboy action.
Dawson Community College 2011-2012 Awards Banquet was held Sunday April 22. The banquet is a tradition at DCC and includes acknowledgment for both academic and sports award recipients. This year's dinner was prepared by Garth Clingingsmith at the Moose Lodge in Glendive. Hosted by the Associated Student Body participants enjoyed lasagna and garlic bread sticks with a Caesar salad and cupcakes for dessert.
Coming to the J&A Arena April 27 to the 29, exciting rodeo action in Glendive Montana. The Dawson Community College Rodeo Team will compete this month at home. Come out and support the Bucs.
The rodeo will offer a full weekend of cowboy action. The Buccaneers will engage in bareback riding, calf roping, goat tying, barrel racing, steer wrestling and bull riding. Other attractions included Saturday’s No-Host dinner at the J & A Arena provided by the Yellowstone River Inn. The dinner begins at 5pm, April 28.

For the past 10 years, Rod Paschke has been the head coach at Dawson Community College and is currently serving his second year as the Big Sky Faculty Director.
When she was a student at Dawson Community College, Britany Fleck needed a horse to break for a class she was taking. A filly named Dasher Dude filled the bill.
Little did Fleck know that filly would help break her on to rodeo's biggest stage.
Riding Dasher Dude - also known as Rootie - Fleck became the first North Dakota woman to qualify for the National Finals Rodeo in barrel racing. The 10-day event begins Thursday.
The Dawson Community College Rodeo team will finish their season with the college national finals rodeo June 12-18 in Casper, Wyoming. In each event, the top three individuals from the region advance to the finals. Although DCC had several individuals in the top ten, only Jodi Gilson placed in the top three to advance on to the finals. Jody is a sophomore competing in the the barrel racing from Quesnel, BC, Canada. Congratulations to the DCC team for a great year and good luck to Jody.
The DCC Rodeo Team competes in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association's Big Sky Region. The Big Sky Region is made up of thirteen colleges and universities from Montana and Wyoming.

Dawson Community College athletic Director Joyce Ayre has announced DCC Rodeo Coach Rod Paschke has been elected by his peers to be the new Big Sky Regional Faculty Director. Northwest College head rodeo coach Del Nose had been the Big Sky Regional Faculty Director for the past 6 years, but Paschke will replace him as director when the new college Rodeo season begins.
