Jessica Willick, from Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan has recently signed her letter of intent to participate on the DCC Rodeo Team for the 2013-2014 season.

Coach Diegel is happy to announce a new member of the DCC Rodeo team, Emily Peabody who is from Ekalaka, MT.  Peabody works the breakaway roping and the goat tying events.  She has earned several rodeo honors throughout her high school rodeo career.  During the 2012-2013 season, she was the MHSRA District 2 Goat Tying Event Director.  In 2013, she was the MHSRA Breakaway Roping Reserve Champion at the Hardin rodeo and the Goat Tying Reserve Champion at the Jordan rodeo.  Peabody was the 2011-2012 MT FCCLA District 5 Secretary and Treasurer.  Sh

Meg Mulvena has found a new home with the Dawson Community College Rodeo program for 2013-14. Daughter of Shawn & Sally Mulvena of Rockglen, Saskatchewan, Meg excels at Goat Tying, Breakaway Roping, Barrel Racing, and Team Roping.

"Meg is a decorated cowgirl who exemplifies what it truly means to be a champion." said DCC rodeo coach Kortney Diegel. 

Zach Johnson wins short-go in steer wrestling

Zach Johnson had a strong rodeo, qualifying for the short-go in both the steer wrestling and the tie down roping.  Johnson won the short-go in the steer wrestling with a time of 5.4 seconds, placing him second in the average.  Johnson finished the tie down roping in 37.1 seconds on two head, good enough for sixth in the average.

Sierra Trusnovec and Candace Chevallier's team roping run of 13.2 seconds made it back to the short-go, where the girls stopped the clock at 16.5 seconds.  Trusnovec and Chevallier finished sixth in both the short-go and the average.

Kortney Diegel - DCC's New Head Rodeo Coach

Dean of Student Services, Joyce Ayre is pleased to announce that
Kortney Diegel has accepted the position of Head Rodeo Coach for the Dawson Community College Buccaneers.

She returned to DCC in 2010 to work for the TRiO Student Support Services and is a familiar face on campus.

“We’re very happy to hire Kortney Diegel as our rodeo coach,” Ayre said. “Her experience as an assistant coach for the Bucs gave her knowledge of the program that made her the right fit for our next rodeo coach.”

Dustin Jenkins - Bull Rider - 2nd in the Region

The Dawson Community College men earned the team title at Sunday's University of Montana Spring Rodeo. The DCC men's team finished ahead MSU collecting 560 points.

Buccaneer Dustin Jenkins qualified for the CNFR in the Bull Riding event earning 2nd place in the region. Originally from the Bitterroot Valley Jenkins scored a 65 to win the average. (See Dustin's ride courtesy of Derek Buerkle (KPAX Sports)).
