Buccaneers start nine new softball recruits Dawson Community College welcomes nine freshmen to campus in 2011-12 who will lend momentum to the upcoming Buccaneer softball program.
On a roster that currently features seven Sophomores, the Buccaneers continue to add to their foundation players. Among the 2011-2012 recruiting class are many Montana grown talents.
Dawson Community College Buccaneers Head Softball Coach, Jim LeProwse, is pleased to announce that Jamie Aiken and Bryce Mitchell have given verbal commitments for the upcoming 2012-2013 season. Both are from Roy Utah.
This season, Aiken pitched and played third base for the Roy High School Royals. Touted as calm under pressure with a strong desire to win by her Utah high school coach, Mandy Koford, Jamie will be a positive force for the Lady Bucs.
BUTTE, Mont. — Recent Butte High graduate Jaci Hanley says she has signed a scholarship offer to play softball at Dawson Community College in Glendive.
Hanley was an all-state first baseman as Butte High won the state Class AA championship this spring. She is also a designated hitter and outfielder and batted .328 as a senior.
Dawson head coach Jim LeProwse, a former Butte Central assistant, tells The Montana Standard he is also considering using Hanley as a pitcher.

The National Junior College Athletic Association has announced the 2010-11 Academic Student-Athlete Awards as well as the 2010-2011 NJCAA All-Academic Teams. The 2010-2011 season marks the 28th year the NJCAA has recognized the success of its student-athletes in the classroom. With minimal changes the NJCAA program has been in place since 1983.

The 2011 Mon-Dak all-conference softball team has recently been announced with several members of the DCC team being on the list. They include Lauren Binkoski, Nicole Miller, and Jordyn Aberle. Congratulations to the girls as they finished second place in the Mon-Dak with a 5-2 record.
Head softball coach Jim LeProwse recently announced that sophomores Jenni Pehler and Allison Roper have signed letters of intent to play softball for Jamestown College. Jamestown, a four year NAIA college, competes in the Dakota Athletic Conference.
Dawson Community College Buccaneers softball coach Jim LeProwse is pleased to announce that Shandy Holm has signed a national letter of intent for the upcoming 2011-2012 season. From Butte, Montana, Holm stands 5-9. This season, Holm plays catcher for the Butte High School Bulldogs. According to Coach LeProwse, “Shandy comes from a strong softball program at Butte High School.”
Dawson Community College Athletics will be hosting prospective student-athletes and their parents for Lady Buccaneer Softball Recruiting Days on Saturday and Sunday, October 16th and 17th, 2010.
The Dawson Community College softball program invites all former players back to campus October 9 at 1pm & 3pm and October 10 at 10am & noon for the 2010 DCC Softball Alumni Weekend.
In conjunction with the Alumni Softball reunion, players will be able to meet and welcome head softball coach Jim LeProwse as he begins his first season with DCC’s Lady Buccaneer softball program. “I am excited to meet some of the former players and see what they have done in their lives since playing softball at DCC” said LeProwse.
