Just Dance is an old fashioned evening of dancing and music for the entire family. Learn new dance steps or brush up on your dance moves, Deb Mooer and the DCC music department are collaborating to present Just Dance!

Ms. Mooer will teach two versatile steps to get dancers of all ages on the floor May 4 at 7 pm in the DCC Toepke Center. Her vast teaching experience and positive, enthusiastic attitude guarantee an enjoyable evening for everyone.

Celebration of Research and Creativity will be the theme for the Dawson Community College Music Department Spring performance Tuesday, May 1. The evening will commence in at 6 pm in the auditorium featuring recital performances by vocal, piano, guitar, and percussion students.

Support Your Favorite Dawson Idol Contestant

Dawson Idol returns Friday, March 30 at 7 p.m. in the DCC auditorium featuring talent from Glendive and the surrounding area. Judges include past DCC students Zach Umback, winner of Idol I, Marlon Tibbs, DCC basketball coach, and A’Lynn Shields, Opus Society member. In addition, DCC music ensembles and previous Idol entrants Charlie Denison and Zach Umback will provide entertainment while the votes are cast and counted. Mr. Denison will visit with aspiring musicians about his recent recording experience.

Circle High School Music Technology/Composition Students Visit DCC

Circle students visit DCC Music Department

DCC student Tyler Chamberlain demonstrated his A-game Friday, March 23 when the Circle H.S. Music Technology students visited campus. Tyler gave a one hour hands-on short course to Tiel Hart, Naomi Nagel and their teacher, Steven Kotson. Students performed and recorded in the DCC studio, while Tyler demonstrated the capabilities of various software used in the DCC Music Tech program. It truly was service learning at its best and a great relationship was developed between the two music programs.  

Seeking Contestants for Dawson Idol

The Opus Society is currently seeking contestants for Dawson Idol to be held March 30 at the Dawson Community College Auditorium. This is the third year for the event and promises to present some of the best vocal musical talent in eastern Montana. Title of Dawson Idol will be determined by the contestant receiving the greatest audience and judge support. The audience vote will contribute half of the final decision. Members of the judge’s panel are chosen from past music department alumni and active members of the surrounding music community.

Madrigal Dinner Trivia Contest: Win a Free Dinner Ticket

In conjunction with the 20th Annual Madrigal Dinner, Dawson Community College Music Department will test your memory of past madrigals in the form of a trivia contest. Questions will be posted on the DCC website November 18, 21, 23, 28, and 30. The person with the most correct answers will receive a free Madrigal Dinner ticket. In case of a tie, a drawing will be held for the winning ticket. If a person has already purchased their ticket, their money will be refunded.

DCC Opus Society

Celebration of Research and Creativity will be the theme for the DCC Music Department Spring performance Thursday, May 12. The evening will commence at 5 p.m. with a reception sponsored by the Opus Society, featuring student research projects encompassing a wide array of musical topics. The projects will be presented in poster presentation format and students will be available to discuss their research with guests.

Brunch with the Bucs

The Opus Society is proud to host Brunch with the Bucs Saturday, February 5 from 10 am to 5pm in the Toepke Center. Fans, family, and alumni are invited join in the pre-game festivities, meet current athletes, coaches, and musicians, and kick off game day as the Bucs take on Lake Region State College.

**Music alumni will join current students in singing the national anthem and play in the pep band for the game. Catch the buccaneer spirit and kick off game day in true DCC style.

Nineteenth Annual Madrigal Dinner

Dawson Community College Music Department will present the nineteenth annual production of the Madrigal Dinner on December 3 and 4 at the Toepke Center on the DCC campus. The castle doors will open each evening at 5:30 p.m., with feasting and festivities commencing at 6. Transformed into a Renaissance castle, the Toepke Center becomes the backdrop to a feast for eyes and ears fit for a king. Traditional and contemporary music await castle guests as vocal and instrumental performers, jesters, jugglers, and dancers provide the Lord of the Manner and his court an evening of enjoyment.
