A Mixed Media Painting Workshop April 16 & 17

Tiger Rag by Walter Piehl

Participants will be working with artist and teacher Walter Piehl creating artwork using still life with a western motif exploring a variety of techniques that will emphasize his expressionistic approach to painting. Participants will be encouraged to experiment with mixed media to discover the creative potential of the expressionistic style.

12th Annual Shaping the Future Conference April 15 & 16

Shaping the future

Dawson Community College will host the 12th Annual Shaping the Future Conference for educators April 15 and 16. "This year's Shaping the Future Conference covers new uses and better safety for computer and cell phone users" said Brenda Stockert, Director of the Early Childhood Education Program at DCC. "Friday we will also have a special session for Head Start and another for early childhood professionals all day Saturday."

Ethan Jones gets Catching Duties for 2011-12 Season

Dawson Community College Buccaneers baseball coach Brent Diegel is pleased to announce that Ethan Jones has signed a national letter of intent for the upcoming 2011-2012 season. From Brigham City, Utah Jones stands 5-11 and weighs in at 180 pounds. This season, Jones played catcher for the Box Elder High School, Bees. The right hander batted .370, posted 25 RBI's, had 11 home runs in summer ball, and was a member of the 1st Team All-Region. According to Coach Diegel, “Ethan comes from a strong baseball program.

Dawson Community College is pleased to have the artwork of one of its favorite artists, Michael Meissner, on exhibit for the third time. Please come by the Ullman Center to enjoy his latest imaginative surreal images during regular building hours, Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Michael has family roots in eastern Montana that reach back five generations. He was raised in both eastern and western Montana. He currently makes his home in Glendive, Montana, along the Yellowstone river and adjacent to the spectacular and rugged Montana badlands of Makoshika State Park.

Mon-Dak All-Conference Basketball Selections

The 2010-2011 Mon-Dak All-Conference basketball teams have been announced with several Dawson Community College men and women making the team.  For the women, Emily O'Callaghan was selected to the first team, and Casey Grace was selected as a second team all-conference player.  On the men's team,  Andy Hopson was voted as second team all-conference with Mario Bury earning an honorable mention spot.  Congratulations to all Buccaneer players on a great regular season as they head into Region IX tournament play.

The DCC Art Club’s members as well as other students with a passion for the arts are contributing some of their work to a show at The DCAU Gallery downtown Glendive.

Dawson Community College Volleyball Coach, John Marble, will host Spring Buccaneer volleyball tryouts Monday March 7th at 2pm in Toepke Center, DCC's newest campus facility. He encourages all high school juniors and seniors to "get in on the fun" and attend this local tryout.
