Basketball theme games planned

DCC Basketball is headed back to the ‘70s with the first of several themed games for the season! Polyester leisure suits, bell bottom pants and platform shoes will be back in fashion as DCC hosts the United Tribes Technical College in Mon-Dak basketball action on Saturday the 12th of December.

DCC Women Beat Alumni

Bucs’ Tia Emerson led all scorers with 27 including eight 3-pointers.

On Nov. 20 and 21 many former women’s basketball players returned to Dawson Community College to challenge the current team. This year’s team took it to the alumni, the Coca-Cola All-Stars, winning both games, 92-37 and 75-51.

Santa’s Sister brings Christmas to DCC

Come and enjoy the festive decorations, a kid craft workshop and Christmas treats that are always a part of this event.

December 13th at 4 pm Santa’s sister, Kathy Claus (a.k.a. Kathleen Fritsch) will arrive at the Dawson Community College Student Center for the annual reading of her most beloved Christmas stories. There will be a variety of stories including some of your holiday favorites.

The college faculty, staff and students wish to invite young children to participate in this pre holiday celebration. Come and enjoy the festive decorations, a kid craft workshop and Christmas treats that are always a part of this event.

Bucs finish tournament with wins

The Bucs’ Mike Chinn led all scorers with 18 points.

After losing their opener at the Mon-Dak preseason tournament in Williston, the Dawson Community College men’s basketball team finished the tourney with two wins. On Friday, the Bucs defeated Dakota State by the final of 86 to 73. Saturday DCC knocked off Bismarck State College 68 to 66.

Against Dakota State the Buccaneers opened up a 48-37 halftime lead on their way to the 13-point win.

Madrigal Dinner is back December 4th & 5th

The castle doors will open each evening at 5:30, with feasting and festivities commencing at 6 pm.

Dawson Community College Music Department will present its eighteenth annual production of the Madrigal Dinner on December 4 and 5 at the Toepke Center on the DCC campus. The castle doors will open each evening at 5:30, with feasting and festivities commencing at 6 pm.

Buccaneer women lose tournament games

"We were missing four offensive minded kids this past weekend due to injuries" Coach Tracey Clingingsmith said.

The Buccaneer women lost Friday and Saturday at the Mon-Dak tournament in Williston. Friday the Dawson Community College women dropped an 81-57 decision to North Dakota State College of Science. The Buccaneers fell to Dakota College at Bottineau Saturday by the final score of 64-53. DCC finished the tourney 0-3.

Oilseed & Biodiesel Production Workshop Offered

The workshop starts at 8:00 a.m. Dec. 8th in the Toepke Center, DCC campus. FREE reg until Dec 2.

GLENDIVE, MONTANA- Farmers, educators, government agency personnel, and business owners who are interested in learning more about on-farm and small scale biodiesel production and use can learn more about these topics at a workshop to be held in Glendive on December 8, 2009.

Law Enforcement Instructor receives award of excellence again

Holly Dershem-Bruce meets with Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement students at the Dawson Community College ‘View Day’ event.

During the month of September, Holly Dershem-Bruce, Dawson Community College Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Program Director, received dual Gold Medal Faculty Awards for online instruction. Dershem-Bruce has been Program Director at DCC since 1993 and continues to go “above and beyond” teaching both online and on-campus classes.
