BP 6-3 ________________________________________________________________________ DAWSON COMMUNITY COLLEGE ________________________________________________________________________ DCC POLICY BP 6-3 APPROVED: July 24, 2006 EFFECTIVE: July 24, 2006 REFERENCES: ________________________________________________________________________ FACILITIES USE POLICY The academic buildings, grounds, athletic fields, gymnasiums, wellness areas and residence halls at Dawson Community College are intended for use by the students, faculty and staff, residents of Dawson County and other communities in keeping with our institutional mission. “We, the faculty and staff of Dawson Community College, are committed to creating and continuously improving accessible and effective learning environments for the lifelong educational needs of the diverse communities we serve.” In order to protect and maintain Dawson Community College facilities, a set of procedures has been developed. These procedures include 1) a formal request and approval system using standard forms and language. 2) minimal fees for each area to cover the costs of supervision, utilities, maintenance and cleaning. 3) rules for the use of each area in order to protect the facility. 4) use priorities that reflect the educational mission of the institution and values of the community, but ensure access to the various community organizations, local school systems, state, federal, regional and national organizations, conferences and commercial organizations. To promote good relationships between our communities and to encourage use of facilities by outside groups, a Facilities Review and Community Relations Committee (Town and Gown) will be established. The mission of the committee will include periodic reviews of facilities use procedures and methodologies for promoting the use of facilities. Moreover, the committee will examine the relationship between the College, the City of Glendive and surrounding communities to develop strategies to improve communication and collaboration. The committee will consist of representatives of the College and the various communities in our service area as recommended by the Board. ________________________________________________________________________ SCOPE This policy applies to Dawson Community College. ________________________________________________________________________ PROCEDURES The College President shall promulgate such procedures as may be needed to implement this policy. ________________________________________________________________________
