Leanne has had a passion for agriculture and the land since a young child. She is born and raised in Montana. She has learned the value of the virtues that come from living the rural lifestyle.
Leanne has judged on the Equine Team at Northwest College. In 1997, Leanne was part of the varsity team. That year the NWC Team was Reserve World Champions. Her top ten finishes in the contest helped the team bring home their title. From there, Leanne transferred to MSU Bozeman, to finish her degree in Agriculture Education. While at MSU, Leanne served as secretary of the Horseman’s Club and showed competitively on the Equestrian Team. In 2004, Leanne pursued her master’s degree in Agriculture Business from Kansas State University. A lifelong learner, Leanne continues to take online and distance graduate courses in her field. This quest for knowledge and standard of excellence has gained Leanne many certificates in the Equine field. Leanne is certified with the American Riding Instructor’s Association in Western, Reining, Driving and English. The newest certifications are in Equine Assisted Therapy through EAGALA and Equine Breeding through Colorado State University.
Many jobs have helped build this educator. Leanne worked in the Ag program at NWC, while in school there; where she managed the meats lab and helped with the running of the livestock pavilion. To pay for college, Leanne spent summers working on Guest Ranches where she guided trail rides and managed programs. She was the Head Wrangler for 2 summers at the 320 Guest Ranch outside of Big Sky, Montana. Work study positions at MSU Bozeman provided a chance to work in Noxious Weed and Range Studies in the Department of Animal and Range Sciences. As a young lady Leanne worked for many local producers and learned the skills of beef cattle, sheep and crop production.
In her spare time and summers Leanne and her family can be found running their own equine enterprise in Eastern Montana.
