The National Affordable Housing Network (NAHN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to high performance self-help housing and long-term community development projects. NAHN has been a leader in neighborhood revitalization efforts in Butte, Montana for nearly 20 years. By providing critically needed self-help homes, including new construction for veterans, NAHN works to restore stability to neighborhoods in need by supporting families and individuals seeking self-sufficiency through home building and homeownership. NAHN’s high performance homes include passive solar, superinsulation and heat recovery technologies to ensure a level of energy efficiency that greatly reduces the financial burden of utility costs for low-income homeowners living in cold climates.
Member Duties : The goal for this VISTA Project will be to expand NAHN’s volunteer efforts and expand the programs that support NAHN’s mission. The member will expand the Brush with Kindness program by developing partnerships with neighborhood associations and committees to facilitate the development of coordinated action plans for neighborhoods eligible for new housing, neighborhood repair and high-impact painting programs. The member will help further ReStore outreach to the community to expand our in-kind Kind donations. Another focus of the project will be to conduct outreach to veterans and disadvantaged community residents to inform them of NAHB’s program and services available to help them secure and maintain quality affordable housing.
