Tryouts for the Dawson Community College Buccaneer volleyball team are set for Feb. 9.
Coach John Marble said high school juniors and seniors are invited to the Toepke Center gym between noon and 1:30 p.m. to show off their skills for a spot on future Buccaneer volleyball squads.
“I would encourage all players to come up,” he said.
“It is a great opportunity to show us your capabilities as a volleyball player.”
Tryouts will include basic skill drills and Marble said he looks forward to seeing potential new players.
“We work really hard trying to identify players that can come and play at Dawson, but don’t have the ability to see everyone play,” he said.
“It is a great opportunity to check out campus and play some volleyball.”
The tryouts are set in conjunction with DCC’s Campus View Day, where prospective students are invited to campus to sample a day of college life.
More information on view day and the Buccaneer volleyball team is available online at www.dawson.edu. Also, Marble can be reached by calling (406) 377-9498.
The Lady Buccaneers compete in the Mon-Dak conference and the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Region IX North conference, which includes teams from Wyoming and Montana.
They completed their inaugural season in November with the number one ace server in the nation for the NJCAA. So far, the Bucs have signed three new recruits for the fall; Hardin Senior Kirby Sabec, Cascade County Senior Amanda Crone and Yellowstone County Senior Amanda Little all have committed to the team. Also, Jordan Senior Alyson Murnion has verbally committed to the team as an outside hitter.
DCC setter Terah Lund and hitters Melissa Yarbrough and Amanda Shadbolt are expected to return in the fall to lead their team in its second season.
