Students enrolled in Dawson Community College’s welding program recently had their skills put to the test, as members of the Advanced Welding Techniques class were tested for welding certification. All six students successfully passed the test, which earned them qualifications that will undoubtedly assist them in finding employment in the welding technology work force.

The February 3rd test assessed each student’s skills in structural plate welding, as they were challenged to stick welded 3/8” plate according to the D1.1 code standards set by the American Welding Society.

The DCC Welding Technology Program is a one-year certificate program designed to help students learn the basics of welding technology, giving them the skills necessary for entry level positions in fabrication and welding. The six students who successfully passed the test were Christian Maloney (Shelby, MT), Cole Plouffe (Glasgow, MT), Austin Visser (Jamestown, ND), Dustin Nicholson (Quesnel, B.C.), Brett Burman (Glendive, MT) and Shawn Parent (Glendive, MT).
