Ray Glueckert, Head Coach of the Dawson Community College softball team, is proud to announce that sophomore Samantha Ewalt has signed a letter of intent to play softball for the Dickinson State University Blue Hawks next year. DSU competes in the DAC-10 Conference of the NAIA.
Ewalt, a switch-hitting centerfielder, was the Lady Buccaneers’ freshman MVP last year and earned 1st team All-Tournament and 2nd team All-Region honors as she led DCC in batting average. “Sami should do very well in the conference this year as a sophomore,” said Coach Glueckert. “She has a great work ethic and is widely recognized throughout the conference for her abilities.”
Samantha will be joining a Dickinson State team that reached the Elite 8 round of the NAIA National Tournament last season. The Blue Hawks softball team is currently the #5 team in the nation, according to the pre-season poll. “Sami was highly recruited and made a great choice in choosing DSU,” commented Coach Glueckert. “They have a very successful program with a strong team and high expectations.”
A graduate of Laurel High School in Laurel, Montana, Samantha is certainly no stranger to athletic success. She has two Montana state titles to her credit, contributing to Laurel’s Class A state champion softball and basketball teams in 2006.
DCC competes in D-1 Region IX of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). For more information on the DCC softball team, contact Coach Glueckert at 406.377.9460.
