Dawson Community College will hold its 68th commencement ceremony on Friday, May 15th, at 10 a.m.. The ceremony will take place in the Toepke Center Gymnasium on the Dawson Community College campus. One hundred students will graduate with a vocational certificate or an AA, AS or AAS degree. A reception will follow in the Toepke Center, with refreshments provided by the AAUW.

This years speaker will be DCC President Emeritus Don Kettner, Chairman of the Montana Board of Veteran Affairs. Raised in Beach, North Dakota, Kettner has dedicated his life to public service. He served in the military as a Marine from 1951-1952, and then as an educator and administrator. Kettner’s affiliation with Dawson Community College began in the early 1960’s when he was an instructor. He also served as the athletic director for a time and then as DCC President from 1981-1999. He finished his tenure at Dawson Community College as President Emeritus - an honorary title bestowed upon him as recognition for his exemplary service.

President Emeritus Don Kettner last spoke at a DCC commencement ten years ago. The college staff, faculty and administration are pleased that he has agreed to come back a second time and favor our 2009 graduates with his wealth of experience. More than ever, this graduating class leaves our halls with great challenges, whether they commit to continued educational goals or pursue immediate employment in the workforce. As we say “good-bye” to our graduates we also say “welcome” to them as the newest class of alumni.
