Dawson Community College will launch the Senior Academy this month. The Academy was begun at the request of local seniors who participated in focus groups and surveys given by Dawson Community College as a way of developing classes to meet the needs and interests of our senior population.
Who are Senior Academy students? In many cases they are those 60 and older who enjoy learning and socializing in relaxed academic setting designed for them. All seniors are invited to take the interactive survey on the DCC web site under Workshops at dawson.edu. Let DCC know what you think as we develop classes for seniors in the coming months.
September and October is “Tech Time for Seniors”. This special set of classes will focus on how to operate a cell phone, computer basics, e-mail and the Internet in a safe and fun environment. Academy classes are taught in a variety of locations including the college. For example our inaugural class Basic Cell Phone Operation will take place at the Senior Citizen Center on September 22 & 23 between 2 and 4pm. This is a two session class and will cost $10.
