Gretchen Bederman, Visual Arts Department Director, is pleased to announce the winners of the Dawson Community College Annual Spring Juried Student Art Show. In its fourth season the show is one of two during the academic year. Jurors included Librarian-Todd Knispel, Student Services Administrative Assistant-Teresa Schulte, and English Instructor Joe Drivdahl.

First place: “Elf Series” by Erin Johnson

Second place: “The Bird Maze” by Shondell Lee

Third place: “A View of the Countryside”by Lacey Lee

Fourth place: “Flawlessness” by Jo-Eun Kang

Honorable mention: “The Humming Bird” by Inga Nead

Best of Printmaking: “Wheat Sunset Series” by Natasha Hutchison

Best of Drawing: “Miracle” by Amanda Shadbolt

Best of Painting: “Two Doors” by Donna Nelson

People’s Choice: two winners ~ “Two Doors” by Donna Nelson & “Whispers of the Sky” by Erin Johnson

Director of Public Relations Award: “Crazy Life” by Amanda Shadbolt. This artwork will be published as the front panel of the 2010-2011 Student handbook. The fall Juried Student Art Show winner was “Shini Shuzoku” (Death Race) by Erin Johnson. This artwork will be published as the back panel of the 2010-2011 Student handbook.
Thirty-five students competed. The Student Art show is still on exhibit by the Jane Carey Memorial Library in the main building on the DCC campus. The exhibit will be up through May 13th so that parents of DCC graduates coming from out of town will have an opportunity to view the show as part of the 69th commencement ceremony activities that day.
