On September 18, 2010, Dawson Community College will host a workshop for grade school teachers and early childhood professionals. Jane Kitson, from Atlanta, GA will be on campus to present Leap Into Literacy.
Kitson is a national early childhood educational consultant and published author who makes language, literacy and learning fun. She will present material in a user friendly, fast-paced format that is practical and fun! Her hands-on techniques are the result of 27 years of experience in the early childhood classroom. The September workshop theme is Me, Marvelous Me and will incorporate original songs, fingerplays, and many interactive, hands-on activities.
One section of her presentation is called, "Make and Take." Workshop participants should wear comfortable clothing, because they will be active.

Leap Into Literacy Registration
The Leap Into Literacy workshop will be held Saturday, September 18, 8:30am-4:00pm, with registration starting at 8:00am, in the Ullman Center, Room UC 102 on the Dawson Community College campus. The workshop fee is $10.00. There are 6.5 early childhood training hours available as well as .5 college credit from DCC at no extra charge.
Be watching for information regarding a second workshop on Saturday, October 2, 2010, called Growing Up Wild, presented by Kurt Cunningham, and Education Specialist for Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks. This workshop will also be offered for .5 credit from Dawson Community College.
