Van smash!

On Friday evening the Homecoming Rally, DCC vs. Miles Community College, began with a bon fire/van demolition. The event was organized by DCC Student Body President, Alex Rozales, with help from Gibbs Auto and the rest of the ASB members. It was the first of its kind for Dawson Community College. "I think it's awesome, everybody is here." said  Rozales "Baseball players, softball players, girls/boys basketball, volleyball players and everyone in between are showing support for the Bucs; it's a good social gathering."

"I like what we're seeing, this is the idea, get people out here, have a little bit of fun, get ready for the game against MCC" said an enthusiastic Kevin Pena, ASB supervisor.

Everyone gathered around as the bon fire grew; a community of positive energy filled the air as students huddled next to one another to support the Bucs. "It's great, I'm a DCC baseball player and I really like to see the community support for the basketball team and I hope it's the same for our baseball season," said DCC baseball catcher Taylor Bell.

As the evening progressed toward the van demolition event the music was flowing, the solar flare was growing and the van wished it wasn't a van. "I want to thank Mr. Gibbs very much for donating the van. It was perfect because it ended up being blue which is awesome because we are playing MCC. I also want to thank our ASB members who helped paint it and got everything organized, especially Kevin Pena who has done a lot for us over the years," said Rozales.

Sledgehammers pounded the MCC Broste all through the night, adding a prophetic touch for what was in store for the Pioneers. "It got tore up, hopefully Miles City see's it while they're rolling in and it kind of scares them a little bit," said DCC student, Bobby King.

Each Buccaneer, with pasted grins, swung viciously at the MCC Chevy Broste, DCC's spirit can definitely destroy anything put in their way.

By the end of the night the Lady Bucs had sustained a loss 39-62 against Miles Community College but the men's Buccaneer team rallied back with a crushing win, 80-62, against their rivals.
