Williston, ND - The Buccaneer baseball team looked to get back on track this past weekend April, 23-24 against Williston St. (ND) after dropping two conference games last weekend. They lost to Williston St. (ND) 4-2 and Miles Community College (MT) 3-1 in the Mon-Dak Mid Season Tournament in Glendive, MT. The Buccaneers fell to (16-10) (5-3).
In game one, Freshman Danny Smith (Tremonton, UT) pitched 6 innings and allowed four runs on eight hits, Smith improved his record to 4-2 on the year. Sophomore Bobby King (Brigham City, UT) pitched 1 inning in relief and allowed one hit, one unearned run while striking out two batters, and earned his third save of the year.
Dawson Sophomore Chris Mjelstad (Laurel, MT) went 3-4 with one RBI. Freshman Hunter Balmer (Brigham City, UT) went 1-4 with two RBI’s. Sophomore Tanner Newman (Bozeman, MT) went 2-3 with one run scored. The Buccaneers had seven runs and eleven hits in the win.
In game two, the buccaneers defense had a couple of let downs. Sophomore Dalton Aiken (Ogden, UT.) pitched 6 strong innings and allowed two unearned runs on two hits while striking out four and dropping his record to 0-1 on the year.
Freshman Mckay Hedin (Logan, UT) went 2-3, Danny Smith (Tremonton, UT) was 2-2 and Jake Loundagin (Casper, WY) had the only RBI of the game for the buccaneers. At the plate the buccaneers had six hits and one run in the 2-1 loss.
