Dawson Community College Buccaneers Head Softball Coach, Jim LeProwse, is pleased to announce that Jamie Aiken and Bryce Mitchell have given verbal commitments for the upcoming 2012-2013 season. Both are from Roy Utah.
This season, Aiken pitched and played third base for the Roy High School Royals. Touted as calm under pressure with a strong desire to win by her Utah high school coach, Mandy Koford, Jamie will be a positive force for the Lady Bucs.
According to the Deseret News Aiken, a two-year infield starter, batted .339 with 18 hits, two doubles, six home runs, 20R Bls, 19 runs, a '397 on-base percentage and a .716 slugging percentage. She had a 3-1 record with a 1.64 ERA in 34 innings with 21 strikeouts and four walks for the state 5-A Champion Royals.
Aiken's other Utah accomplishments include: All State for 2 years, All Area for 2 years, All Region for 2 years, she was selected as Standard Examiner's star athlete, Triple Crown All Star, Triple Crown All American, Volunteer Softball Coach for Wahlquist Junior High, Team Captain, Triple Crown National Champion, ASA National Runner-up, Adidas Futures Team Member and Honor Student.
Bryce Mitchell joins the Dawson Community College Buccaneer team batting right with a .333, a '410 on-base percentage, a .535 slugging percentage and an OPS of .945. Her Utah team win loss record was 28 and 3.
Mitchell is a versatile player able to field 1st base, 2nd base, 3rd base, short stop, out field, right field, and left field.
"Both Jamie and Bryce recently attended our recruit weekend at DCC and I am very pleased with what I saw from both players" said Coach LeProwse. "Both players come from outstanding softball programs in Utah and have been very well coached in their prep careers. I look forward to both of them making a big impact on our program right away."
DCC welcomes Jamie and Bryce and look forward to their arrival on campus.
