It's finally here! The unique event that Montana Campus Corps planned for you and your family to enjoy on Thanksgiving morning-our 2nd Annual Bucky's Turkey Trot! It will be a fun run with distances of 1 mile for children, a 5k, and a 10k. Top competitors in each race, all youth competitors, the person with the best running costume, and the family with the most members registered will all receive awards. Since proceeds from the event will benefit the Dawson County Food Bank, registration may be paid either in cans or in cash. Three non-perishable food items like mushrooms, olives, yams, cereal, and tuna will get you into any race. The cost of registration with a t-shirt is $20.

To date, folks from Glendive, Plevna, Terry and Vernal, Utah are warming up for Trot!

You may either register online or from 8am to 9am at Body and Soul on South Douglas, where the race will begin. The 10k race will begin at 9:15am, the 5k race will begin at 9:30am, and the kids will run at 10:30am. Muffins and hot cider will greet finishers at the Body and Soul facility after the races.

Last year there were 12 runners and it was -4 degrees. This year there is a low of 25 degrees possible so Campus Corps is hoping to double the number of runners.

There are several ways for you to get involved with this event, as there are many things required to make an event like this successful. First things first, we need runners! So bring yourself, your family, and anyone else you can grab on.

Next, we want to challenge businesses and individuals to bring more than the three non-perishable food items required for registration. A trailer will be parked, waiting to be filled to the brim. With a little generosity, we can make that happen!

Lastly, volunteers for set up, registration, water stations, the kids run, the finish line, and clean up will be much appreciated. To help the things flow more smoothly, please contact the Office of Community Involvement by 4pm on November 21st.

We hope to see everyone from visiting family to lifetime residents of Dawson County running in this race. So make this holiday healthy, helpful, and memorable by coming to the 2nd Annual Bucky's Turkey Trot!
