With the signing of Heather Schmidt, a second volleyball stand-out from Great Falls MT,  Dawson Community College volleyball head coach John Marble has added more talent to his Buccaneer roster.

"I am thrilled to welcome Heather into the Buccaneer Volleyball family." Marble said. A home school student, Schmidt feels the same. "I chose Dawson because I really enjoyed the atmosphere on campus and I thought it would be a good place to work toward a degree in nursing. I also got good feedback from my high school coach who played Softball for DCC and a close teammate who attended there. Heather played with former Buccaneer standout, Debbie Schendel, who is currently playing at Nyack College, a NCAA DII school in New York.

Working her way towards college athletics Heather has contributed to the Great Falls Homeschool Bulldog volleyball program for the last 4 years. Her MVP status reflects her capacity as a player. She was awarded Team Captain, Most Inspirational player, Blocker of the Year, Most Improved player and Lettered all 4 years.

"She is a solid team leader" said Marble. "Heather is a competitor who has competed for multiple state titles, participated in All stars, and earned state tournament recognition."

At only 5'6", Marble notes Schmidt has tremendous athletic ability "Her ball control is outstanding, she jumps well. We'll benefit from her volleyball skills and her great competitiveness"
