As the finale of The Opus Society’s 3rd annual Dawson Idol heated up, the contestants pulled out all the stops on the way to the title. Contestants for the night included Christel Enriquez, Ryan Doll, Staci Weidner, Joni Ruffatto, Miona Mijalkovic, Paige Alexander, LoriAnn Church, Liz Riley, Morgan Martell, Zach Zilkoski, Tia Phipps, Kylee Snapp, and Tate Traeger.
But as the evening wound down and ballots were counted, inaugural Dawson Idol winner Zach Umback and Nashville recording artist Charlie Denison put the final notes on an incredible set of performances by all the contestants. A delayed trip to the Women’s Final Four and an original piece sealed, rapper, Christel “CPR” Enriquez in third place. Tate Traeger’s take on a country classic stole the hearts of the crowd and landed him as 1st runner up. It was Morgan Martell though, whose soulful vocals and musical talent, rocked her way to the Dawson Idol title.
Upcoming Dawson Community College music department events include An Evening of Research and Creativity highlighting research and composition projects and performances by music ensembles and soloists on May 1st. On May 4th, ‘Just Dance’ will feature live music from the DCC music department. These performances are open to the public and family oriented, guaranteed to be nothing less than amazing.
Thank you to all our Dawson Idol sponsors, DCC, Jock Stop, MDU Resources Foundation, and all who participated and attended!!
