Winners will be announced at the ASB Awards Banquet Sunday, April 22 at the Glendive Moose Lodge.
Dawson Community College First Annual Photo Contest is the brainchild of Joyce Ayre, Interim Dean of Student Services. Ayre felt it was time to let the photographers among us shine. What a great idea!
Ayre enlisted the Art Club to organize the exhibit with the help of club members Alissa Wynne and Christie Bury, along with advisor Gretchen Bederman, and web technical assistance from Shane Bishop. Together they created the entry form, managed digital entries, printed, matted, and framed each photograph. Candace Chevallier and Riley Butler helped scout out the perfect location and set up the exhibit. A team effort dedicated to bringing the arts to the DCC community.
This brand new event attracted entries from twelve talented photographers; students Cody Blanton, Conner Brown, Candace Chevallier, Kallie Madler, team Liz Ramsey and Rnea Red Bird, Liz Riley, Sara Williamson, and employees Joyce Ayre, Shane Bishop, Pat Cunningham and Kristi Powell. Everyone is enjoying this popular display just outside of the Student Center. The show of excellent photographs has received a resounding response of approval. What a great beginning for a new tradition.
The awards in five categories: Grand Prize, People’s Choice, People and Activities; Landscape and Sill Life; and Photo Fantasy will be presented at the ASB Awards Banquet Sunday, April 22 at the Glendive Moose Lodge from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The jurors for the First Annual Photo Contest are Justin Cross, Gail Ring, Christie Bury, and Alissa Wynne.
The exhibit will be on view through May 7. After the photo contest, all of the entries will be on display in the “Photo Gallery” on the DCC website @ http://www.dawson.edu/gallery2.
