Since 2007 Dawson Community College in Glendive, Montana has been providing much needed CDL training through a partnership with Sage Technical Services. Dean of Instructional Services Jackie Schultz stated “DCC has set a goal to develop and provide workforce training that focuses on curricular excellence, employee safety and student placement. DCC is pleased to announce truck driver training will be available in Glendive next month.
Start date of July 5th-Register by June 15. Registration is still open. Start date moved to mid-July. Contact SAGE at 800-545-4546
The initial course coming to DCC will be the Tractor Trailer Driver, Basic (TTD150) and is designed for students with no prior knowledge or experience in truck driving. Certification and accreditation standards are set by The Professional Truck Driver Institute. Sage representative Carmella Campanion explained “SAGE will pre-arrange and work with the state to make CDL exams available. We have numerous contacts for regional oilfield jobs as well as placement assistance.”
This program is approximately four weeks and includes 150 clock hours of instruction including 104 hours of class and lab, 44 hours of behind-the–wheel driving time and the CDL test. Students will be housed on the DCC campus for the four week session. The partnership provides the opportunity for regional participation without housing constraints. Enrollees will be required to stay on campus. Both DCC and Sage require a minimum of ten (10) registered and paid enrollees prior to the start date of July 5. Applicants are being accepted now and must be registered by June 15. If enrollment is not met by June 15 applicants will be notified that the course will be cancelled.
According to Schultz, “With the identified need for CDL training in eastern Montana, this is an opportunity for us to meet that need and assure a quality product. DCC is very pleased to bring Sage onboard once again.”
