Josh Link holds his well deserved PBA card.

Josh Link from Hardin MT has traded in his baseball to finally realize his lifelong dream of becoming a professional bowler. Link with his memorable blue baseball glove pitched for the Dawson Community College Buccaneers during the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

He began bowling when he was just two years old. Now 24, he has made his debut on the Professional Bowlers Association Tour in San Jose, CA during the Labor Day weekend.

The Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) recognized Link after he posted league averages of 230+ over the past three years.

In his youth Link had easy access to the Community Center Bowl owned by his parents in Hardin. As a result he soon gravitated to compete at the junior level as well as high school competitions and in adult amateur leagues.

Describing bowling as his “passion” Link played 75 – 100 practice games in the weeks leading up to his first professional tournament in San Jose.  In California he battled against 90 professional bowlers including many of the best bowlers in the region.

At the tournament he had a slow start during the first game but bounced back in the second with a 269. He averaged 212 on one of the hardest bowling patterns on the tour, allowing him to cash in at 14th place.

He will be practicing hard on his days off from his job as a corrections officer in Glendive MT. Ranking 10th on the Northwest Region Leader board Link hopes to continue proving that he has what it takes to compete at a high level as he battles on in Roseburg, OR during his next regional stop Sept. 21-23. Friends and family can follow his journey on Community Center Bowl’s Facebook page.
