Dawson Community College “Gallery 126” is pleased to present “Wax Works” with encaustic paintings by Jordan Pehler on exhibit from November 3 through January 25.
There will be an artist reception for Jordan Pehler from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

DCC will host the District 2C Volleyball Championships on October 25-27. Eight area teams will be vying for the right to participate in the Eastern C Divisional Tournament in Sidney on November 1-3. Four teams will advance from the District Championship to the Divisional Championship and a chance to earn a spot in the State Tournament.

Special Olympics Glendive/Sidney basketball team, AKA the Prairie Badland Rattlers, have been practicing their skills with great determination in the practice gym at Dawson Community College for the past 10 weeks.
Their efforts have earned the Rattlers a trip to compete in Great Falls for the State Basketball Tourney Nov 8-10.
Glendive Special Olympics will host its Annual Pumpkin Loot Fund Raiser in order to sponsor the trip to Great Falls. The community is invited to contribute at corner of Towne and Merrill in Glendive on Friday, October 26 from 4-6pm.
In the Spirit of Halloween, Dawson Community College Associated Student Body (ASB) invites families and friends to gather for two special funtastic and spooktacular events on campus at 300 College Drive.
The college seems unassuming in the days leading up to Halloween but for three days at the end of October watch out! A Haunted House is about to materialize in the Dungeon (basement) of the Main Building on campus.
The Buccaneer volleyball team is hosting a “Dig Pink” night during its 7 p.m. match against Sheridan College at home in Toepke Center on Tuesday, Oct. 9, to promote breast cancer awareness and raise money for research.
Fans are encouraged to wear pink to support the “Dig Pink” initiative. “This is a great event to raise awareness for breast cancer. Each year millions of dollars are raised by volleyball teams around the nation. We are honored to be part of this movement.” said Head Coach John Marble.
DCC is offering two educator workshops in conjunction with MEA days.
Gifted and Talented Education
Some of the most prevalent modern myths in education surround giftedness and gifted and talented programs. Instructors Lea Moore and Stephanie Soderquist will tackle the subject in 2 professional development workshops that will offer valuable insight that will assist teachers in understanding and meeting the complex challenges of identifying and providing for gifted and talented learners. At Monday night’s Board of Trustee meeting, Deputy Commissioner John Cech expressed concern for the sustainability of Dawson Community College (DCC) due to enrollment trends that challenge our ability to meet FY2013 budget projections. Our 2013 budget was prepared in the fall of 2010 approved in early 2011 by the legislature, the governor’s budget office, and the Board of Regents and was adopted for implementation. When submitted every expectation was that we would meet the enrollment required to fund the budget.
