Stockman Bank Establishes Endowed Scholarship

Keith Robinson, President of Stockman Bank, presented Dawson Community College a check for ten thousand dollars to establish the Stockman Bank Endowed Scholarship Fund. The Dawson College Foundation will administer the fund and award a $500 annual scholarship to a Dawson Community College student studying in an agricultural-related field. “Stockman Bank has been a long-time friend and supporter of the college. We gratefully acknowledge this generous donation and appreciate Stockman for creating a permanently endowed fund for Montana students now and in the future,” says Dr.

Gloria K. Zuroff establishes fund

The Dr. Roman S. Zuroff endowed fund is to provide an annual scholarship for a DCC student majoring in a medical field

Gloria K. Zuroff recently established the Dr. Roman S. Zuroff fund in honor of her father. Dr. Zuroff served as Chairman of the Dawson Junior College Board of Trustees from 1966 to 1970. He was elected President of the Board from 1968 to 1970. He served on the Board during the time the first building was constructed on the current campus site.

MDU Resources Foundation Grant

DCC awarded a five thousand dollar grant for improvements to the wellness facilities in the Toepke Center.

The MDU Resources Foundation and its member companies, MDU Utilities Group, Knife River Corporation, WBI Holdings, Inc. and MDU Construction Services Group awarded a five thousand dollar grant for improvements to the wellness facilities in the Toepke Center at Dawson Community College.

MATHCOUNTS® Competition in 27th year

In its 27th year, MATHCOUNTS is one of the most successful education partnerships.

 

The MATHCOUNTS® competition was held at Dawson Community College February 17th between 9am and 3pm. DCC will host middle school students from 5 different schools: Terry, Lambert, Frontier, Luster and Glendive. The competition was held in the practice gym on the DCC campus. Mike Hunter, mathematics instructor at Dawson Community College, heads up the yearly MATHCOUNTS® competition.

Excel for Farmers/Ranch

Starting Monday February 22 Instructor Kristin Aus will begin Excel in Agriculture, a business department course, at Dawson Community College. This course, designed by Aus, will build confidence as farmers and ranchers use Microsoft Excel 2007 software and increase their understanding of the business management aspects of their agricultural operation.

DCC volleyball signs Livingston player

Marble said he is looking forward to having her on the team.

Dawson Community College volleyball has started signing members of next fall's freshman class, starting with Livingston's Park High School senior Victoria Foster.

Coach John Marble recently announced Foster's commitment to the Lady Buccaneer volleyball team. "Victoria is a natural volleyball player and very athletic," he said. "She is loaded with potential."

Foster stands at 5'11" and is familiar with all positions at the net, playing outside hitter, middle blocker and right side in high school.

Comparison to FA07 and FA08

GLENDIVE, MONTANA-Dawson Community College has announced an increase in fall enrollment for the second consecutive year. College enrollment is expressed in full-time equivalent (FTE). Annualize FTE is calculated by dividing the number of credits taught in an academic year by 30. Term FTE is calculated by dividing the number of credits taught in a semester by 15. DCC reported a 7.3% increase for in-state term FTE and 3.7% for total term FTE.

Brown Bag Lunch Essentials Series

The Opus Society’s "Brown Bag Lunch Essentials" are open events for students, faculty, staff, and members of the community to explore important topics presented by high profile industry leaders. This no-host luncheon series was created to engage and inspire community leaders in discussions on a variety of topics from technology, business, world issues, design, entertainment, science, leadership, and creativity; the essentials for every leader.

Members of the Dawson Community College FFA/ AG Club will show off their muscles by offering themselves up for auction at the 2010 GATE Banquet Saturday, February 13th to be held at the EPEC. Banquet social hour starts at 6pm and dinner at 7pm.

Available for bid, 3 teams of two Agriculture students each and one single Agriculture student. Each team or single student is donating 8 hours of labor to the winning bidder. The clubs goal is to raise funds for additional educational opportunities in agriculture on the Dawson Community College campus.
