Lady Bucs win last home game vs Bottineau

On Sunday February 20th, the last home game of the year against the Bottineau Lumberjacks took place. Both DCC basketball teams had beaten the Jacks away but hadn't seen them sense the start of the year.

The women's basketball teams played first and it was a battle right from the beginning. The Lady Bucs trailed most of the game but in the last 8 minutes of the second half the teams were tied. There was 30 seconds left in the game and the score was tied with the Buccaneers having the ball.

DCC basketball teams met their rivals, the Pioneers, for one last opportunity to play this season. The women's game started off tight. Two points for the Lady Bucs were counteracted with two points by the Pioneers.   

TJ Casey LIVE on stage Feb 26th

TJ Casey will appear LIVE at Toepke Center in the Dawson Community College Auditorium February 26th at 7pm. “TJ is a high energy entertainer and has a complete repertoire of cowboy humor, songs and poems” said Deb Sustrich of the Sagebrush Cowboyography Association  in Sheridan Wyoming. “He engages the audience with his performance and keeps them highly entertained. He is an excellent guitar player and singer and aside from being enjoyable to listen to he is fun to watch”.

“The Foreigner” An Inspired Comic Romp March 4 & 5

Dawson Community College Theater Department will present the hilariously funny play entitled: The Foreigner written by Larry Shue and directed by Ron Conrad. This play is a sentimental, often hilarious farce, full of loopy jokes with a gentle lesson about tolerance and friendship slipped in unobtrusively.

First produced at the Milwaukee (Wisconsin) Repertory Theatre in January of 1983 it eventually won two Obie Awards and two Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best New American Play and Best Off-Broadway Production.

A Mixed Media Painting Workshop with artist Walter Piehl Saturday takes place April 16th 9 – 12, 1 – 4 and Sunday, April 17th 10 - 12, 1 – 3 Preregister by April 11th.

Participants will be working with artist and teacher Walter Piehl creating artwork using still life with a western motif exploring a variety of techniques that will emphasize his expressionistic approach to painting. Participants will be encouraged to experiment with mixed media to discover the creative potential of the expressionistic style.

Dawson Community College Gallery 126 is pleased to present the hand pulled fine art prints of Linda Whitney. Linda Whitney’s exhibit New Intaglios will be open to the public from Monday, February 28th through Friday, April 8th. Gallery 126 hours are Monday through Friday 8 am to 4 pm, and evenings Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 6:30 to 9 pm. Located in room 126 computer lab next to the library. Lady Buccaneer Volleyball squad "Dig" academic excellence

Dawson Community College has once again honored the Lady Buccaneer Volleyball squad for their outstanding academic performance. The Women's 2009 team was recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) as second in the nation for academic excellence. The minimum grade point average requirement for consideration is a team GPA of 3.00. Of 302 teams nationally, only 57 teams achieved the minimum standard of a 3.00 GPA for recognition. DCC is ranked 2nd overall with a team GPA of 3.68.

DCC Registrar Virginia Berube has released the names of students who have earned a place on the Dawson Community College Dean's List during the fall semester of 2010. These students distinguished themselves academically by attaining a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

College Goal Montana is for all families who want assistance in completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form. Dawson Community College Financial aid officers and other qualified professionals volunteer their time to ensure students receive assistance in understanding and completing the paperwork necessary to receive financial aid.

Keith P. Guelff Memorial Scholarship Endowment Established

The Dawson College Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of the Keith P. Guelff Memorial Scholarship Endowment at Dawson Community College. Through a generous donation of $40,000 by Keith and Andrea Huschka and Precision Machine & Welding, the fund honors the late friend and mentor who had a positive and lasting impact on Keith Huschka's life and career. The Huschka's live in Glendive, MT and Dickinson, ND.
