Dawson Community College is pleased to have the artwork of one of its favorite artists, Michael Meissner, on exhibit for the third time. Please come by the Ullman Center to enjoy his latest imaginative surreal images during regular building hours Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Michael has family roots in eastern Montana that reach back five generations. He was raised in both eastern and western Montana. He currently makes his home in Glendive, Montana, along the Yellowstone river and adjacent to the spectacular and rugged Montana badlands of Makoshika State Park.
Influenced by his father, a rancher, horse trader & part-time rodeo producer, Walter Piehl grew up in Marion, North Dakota loving horses & rodeo. Born to be an artist, he filled his spare time with drawing & painting. A rodeo rider himself, & an announcer for thirty years, Piehl comes by his subject naturally. Images of broncs & bulls, ropers & riders tremble with action. Piehl's paintings capture the essence of the fast & furious explosive action of the rodeo, & the dynamic interaction of horse & rider.
