DCC creates a unified digital campus

Dr. James A. Cargill, President, Dawson Community College signs agreement to integrate DCC's information system.

On December 21, 2009, Officials from Sungard Higher education met with President Jim Cargill of Dawson Community College and President Stefani Hicswa of Miles City Community College to sign agreements which will bring Banner Integrated Information System on to the community College campuses in eastern Montana. The Montana University System is underwriting the approximately 1.7 million dollar cost of this project. Currently over 800 colleges nationwide are using the system, including the University of Montana and Montana State University.

DCC's Jordan Brady-on brink of NBA

Jordan Brady wasn't heavily recruited out of high school where he was a first-team all-state selection.

From time to time around the water cooler the topic comes up about what happens to the kids who travel through Glendive with a pit stop for sports at Dawson Community College and whether their experience preps them for their future...and from time to time we hear from former Buccaneers about why it was an important step in the career.  We have another one of those stories for you.

Four Miles City artists Exhibit

Artworks by four Miles City artists are currently on display at Dawson Community College’s Gallery 126 and Impromptu Gallery in Glendive through Feb. 5, 2010. A reception is planned for Wednesday, Jan. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Gallery 126 and Impromptu Gallery. Everyone is welcome to come meet the artists, enjoy the artwork, conversation, and refreshments.

Scholarships for Community College students and alumni

Young Scholar Jasmine has played music for fourteen out of her seventeen years.

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship honors excellence by supporting outstanding community college students with financial need to transfer to and complete their bachelor’s degrees at the nation’s top four-year colleges and universities.

State approved Nurse Assistant Training begins

The course combines both a strong technical and theoretical background and experience in a supervised clinical environment.

State approved Nurse Assistant Training begins Monday January 25th and continues thru February 16th.  Classes will be held at the Glendive Medical Center in the CNA Classroom, Extended Care Facility - 202 Prospect in conjunction with Dawson Community College.

Volleyball player headed to university squad

Freshman Ariel Johnson was recruited by Coach Katie Howells from the University of Montana Western in Dillon.

A Dawson Community College Volleyball player is transferring to a four-year program.
Freshman Ariel Johnson was recruited by Coach Katie Howells from the University of Montana Western in Dillon.
She said she will begin school in Dillon after Christmas.
"I feel like it's kind of a step up going to a four-year program," she said.
Johnson, a Kalispell native, said she looks forward to being closer to her home town with the move.
Also, she said, she looks forward to playing for a bigger school.
