Dawson Community College baseball coach Brent Diegel is very excited to announce the signing of Tanner Newman for the upcoming 2009-2010 season. The 6 foot 1 inch, 170 pound Newman, who bats from the left side and throws right-handed, is from Bozeman, Montana. He redshirted as a freshman at Tacoma Community College last season.
Dawson Community College will host the 10th annual Montana GEAR UP camp (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) from June 14th to the 20th.
For many children, the likelihood of attending and succeeding in college is small. Too many students face seemingly insurmountable barriers, including low expectations, inadequate academic preparation and a lack of information about education options and opportunities.

Dawson Community College Rodeo Coach Rod Paschke has been selected the 2009 Big Sky Region Rodeo Coach of the Year. This year’s selection was made by the eight head coaches from the Big Sky and the Big Sky Regional Staff. Regional Director Del Nose, who is also the head rodeo coach at Northwest College in Powell, WY, commented that “Rod has done a great job with his rodeo teams and his rodeo.
In the parking lot at Dawson Community College, on April 28th, students involved in the Engineering Technology program got some practical experience. Thanks in part to the Glendive Rotary Club for their generous support, a team of students headed by Engineering Technology Instructor John Marble got to work constructing forms for a 3,000 lbs picnic table of their own design.
This year’s prizes for the Dawson Community College 2009 Spring Juried Student Art Show and the 2009-2010 Visual Arts Merit Scholarships were announced on April 26th at DCC’s Annual Associated Student Body Awards Banquet.
Dawson Community College will hold its 68th commencement ceremony on Friday, May 15th, at 10 a.m.. The ceremony will take place in the Toepke Center Gymnasium on the Dawson Community College campus. One hundred students will graduate with a vocational certificate or an AA, AS or AAS degree. A reception will follow in the Toepke Center, with refreshments provided by the AAUW.
The administration at Dawson Community College is proud to announce that Tracey Clingingsmith has been hired as the new head coach of the Women’s Buccaneer Basketball program.
Dawson Community College is teaming up with Deb Mooer of Deb’s Dance to offer two 5-week summer Country/ballroom style dance sessions. The first will begin May 13th and the second July 1st, both on Wednesday evenings. “I love this class. I should be required!” a resent student beamed. “Deb is a fun instructor”.

From Hardin, Ryan Gratwohl is 5’10”, 175 pounds and currently plays for the Billings Royals-American Legion team. Ryan’s stats include a batting average of .305 an on base percentage of .450 and a pitching record of 2-0 with 1 save. According to Coach Diegel, “Ryan will add depth to the Buccaneer catching core”.
