Tickets for the twenty-first annual Dawson Community College Madrigal Dinner are on sale now at the DCC business office. The Madrigal Dinner will be held in the Toepke Center Lobby on December 7. Transformed into the Renaissance castle, doors open at 5:30 p.m. with feasting and festivities commencing at 6. Characters will delight castle guests with vocal and instrumental music, jesters, jugglers, actors, and dancers. Time honored processions featuring Wassail, Boar’s Head, and Flaming Pudding transport the audience throughout the evening.
Scheduled for Thanksgiving Morning, Thursday, November 28th, 2013 at 9 a.m. Dawson Community College’s Office of Community Involvement and the Glendive Community are hosting the 4th Annual Bucky’s Turkey Trot to benefit the Dawson County Food Bank. Originally started by 2010 by DCC Campus Corp Team it has become a holiday event raising over 650lbs of food and $3,000 for the Dawson County Food Bank last year.
Winners of the 5th Annual Halloween Art Contest sponsored by the Dawson Community College ASB, Write Club and Art Department were announced Monday. The competition was open to aspiring art students. Barrett Jordan, IT Specialist, and Jane Wynne, Director of Public Relations judged the art works submitted. To help fund their future creative interests, all winners received a cash award.
Dawson Community College Volleyball coach, Gerry Standridge, is pleased to announce sophomore Lindsey James #15 made the Region IX 2013 All Tournament Team and sophomore Amy Van Hienen #9 made the the 2013 All Region IX Team for the season. Both Lindsey and Amy play the outside hitter position on the Lady Bucs volleyball team.
The Dawson Community College admissions team will hold View Day November 11, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Once again the college is offering a Tuition Drawing for 2014-15. Those who enter must participate in View Day to win. (Drawing is for Fall/Spring tuition-in state value). The winner is announced at lunch on View Day.
DCC music department students are currently selling pottery mugs with your choice of DCC, DCC Alumni, DCC Mom or DCC Dad inscription. The hand thrown pottery mugs are created by alumnus, Amanda Heimbuch. In addition, the department continues their yearly Sturgis Coffee sales and Hansen’s beef sticks, cheese, soup mix and much more. Suela Cela, originally from Lushnje, Albania, instructs the Italian Culture, Culinary & Conversation Workshop at Dawson Community College, October 26 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cela uses a photo history presentation that includes art, food, conversation, and travel strategies in her unique introduction to Italy workshop.
In the spirit of Halloween, Dawson Community College Associated Student Body (ASB) invites families and friends to gather for two special funtastic and spooktacular events on campus at 300 College Drive.
The college seems unassuming in the days leading up to Halloween but for three days at the end of October watch out! A Haunted House is about to materialize in the Dungeon (basement) of the Main Building on campus.
Licensed Zumba Instructor, Kathy Cross, will present the course Oct 21 through Dec 11 from 4:30 p.m.-5:20 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays in the old gym on the Dawson Community College campus.
The first gathering of Montana Association for the Education of Young Children (MtAEYC) at Dawson Community College takes place on October 16th, 2013. The session is an opportunity to network for any K-3, preschool or childcare provider. Keynote speaker Sharon DiBrito from Missoula Montana will present in the Ullman Center (UC105) between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. DiBrito is executive Director of Montana AEYC and has operated the Lolo Preschool for 25 years.
