Information Packed Equine Seminars at GATE

Leanne Hoagland MAB of Dawson Community College and Big Sky Shires & Equine Services will be instructing two information packed seminars for the GATE 2009 Glendive Agri-Trade Exposition at the EPEC. The Equine industry is ever changing and the economy is impacting the industry as never before. With all this the horse owner is faced with many opportunities and decisions on how to progress in their horses. Costs continue to go up and horse owners are trying to decide if they should sell, buy or breed.

National TRiO Day Open House

Dawson Community College is celebrating National TRiO Day with an open house February 27th from 10am-2pm in the Mid-Rivers Academic Support Center adjacent to the Jane Carey Memorial Library on the DCC campus. Kent Dion, Director of the Mid-Rivers Academic Support Center and his staff will host with cookies and refreshments.

TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded program designed to increase retention, graduation, GPAs, and transfer rates of disadvantaged college students. All of these services are free to DCC students.

Volleyball Tryouts Set

Tryouts for the Dawson Community College Buccaneer volleyball team are set for Feb. 9.

Coach John Marble said high school juniors and seniors are invited to the Toepke Center gym between noon and 1:30 p.m. to show off their skills for a spot on future Buccaneer volleyball squads.

“I would encourage all players to come up,” he said.

“It is a great opportunity to show us your capabilities as a volleyball player.”

Tryouts will include basic skill drills and Marble said he looks forward to seeing potential new players.

Amanda Little plays volleyball for Dawson

Dawson Community College has signed a third new volleyball player for the fall season.

Coach John Marble announced this week that Amanda Little, a 5-10 hitter for the Yellowstone County Homeschool Knights and Rimrock Volleyball Club, has committed to the Lady Buccaneer team.

Little has experience in several positions on the court, but anticipates playing outside for the Bucs. She said she is happy to have the opportunity to play college ball.
