Dawson Community College Board Chair, Jim Squires, announce the selection of Michael Simon, M.A., as the next Dawson Community College president.
Squires expressed his enthusiasm for the pick in a statement Monday as he described the search process in detail. “The successful signing of Michael Simon as the next DCC president is a culmination of a tremendous, sustained search effort by the Presidential Search Committee. The Committee was made up of community members, plus faculty, staff and administration at DCC. The Search committee studied 42 completed applications, narrowed the field to six candidates who were interviewed on SKYPE. The Presidential Search Committee then submitted names of three finalists for on-site interviews to the DCC Board. Following Community “Meet and Greet” sessions with each candidate, a campus visit and tours of Glendive, each candidate was formally interviewed by the DCC Board of Directors. The DCC Board made the final determination after reviewing feedback from DCC faculty, staff and administration. Hiring Michael Simon as our new DCC president opens doors to our future, and makes the future of DCC exciting!”
Michael Simon, currently Chief Executive Officer for the Timberline Campus of Colorado Mountain College, accepted the position this week. “I’m incredibly excited about this opportunity.” Simon stated “I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Glendive and DCC. I left impressed with those I met and see fantastic prospects as Dawson Community College moves forward.”
