Kendel Wilkerson follows her passion for hoops.

Kendel Wilkerson, of Olympia, WA signed her letter of intent to play for Dawson Community College this week.

The 5'11 forward played for the Capital High School Cougars in Washington State last season. As a senior Kendel averaged 10 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists per game.

Kendel will travel over 1,000 miles to reach the DCC campus. She is not a stranger to Glendive, however. "The reason why I chose Dawson is just simply because I listened to my heart. It told me to continue playing basketball, and now I finally am making that decision to follow my heart. I will be playing in the town where I have so many good memories growing up with my Grandfather, Wes Toepke. He helped shape the person I am today."

Wilkerson will be competing and practicing in Toepke Center, which bares her Grandfather name. Wes Toepke played basketball for Dawson Community College in the late 1950’s. He valued the college, was active in its growth, and gave generously to the Dawson College Foundation during his life.
Daughter of Heidi Toepke Grant, Wilkerson will attend DCC starting Fall 2013.
