DCC Baseball Signs student athlete Jesse Gullion

Jesse Gullion is a third baseman from Brigham City, Utah.

Brent Diegel, Head Coach of the Dawson Community College baseball program, has announced the signing of student athlete Jesse Gullion, a third baseman from Brigham City, Utah.  The 6-4, 190 pound third baseman throws right-handed and bats lefty.   As a junior in 2009, Gullion led his high school team, the Box Elder Bees, in hits, RBI, and doubles.  He batted a robust .410 with 43 hits, 5 homeruns, 20 Doubles, and posted a .460 On Base Percentage.

1st Bucs and Bunnies Tournament

On April 2nd and 3rd the Women’s and Men’s Basketball Programs at Dawson Community College held their First Annual Bucs and Bunnies Coed Easter Basketball Tournament. Seven teams from Glendive and one from Wolf Point competed for prizes donated by local business in the Toepke Center Gymnasium. The tournament will be an annual fundraiser to support men’s and women’s basketball programs at Dawson.

Area vocalists are gearing up for the third year of eastern Montana’s very own, Dawson Idol, to be held April 9 on the Dawson Community College campus. Presented by the DCC Music Department and Opus Society, contestants will compete to advance to the second round of judging April 23 and a hopeful title through audience and judge voting.

Baseball Signs Junior College Transfer and Welcomes Back Former Player

Braxton Davis, a right handed 1B/OF from Clinton, Utah.

Brent Diegel, Head Coach of the Dawson Community College baseball program, has announced the signing of Braxton Davis, a right handed 1B/OF from Clinton, Utah. Davis is 6-2 and weighs 220 pounds. As a senior in 2008 at Northridge High School, Davis batted .440 with 10 homeruns and 29 RBIs. His outstanding play earned him an opportunity to play at Clarendon College in Texas, an NJCAA Division 1 program. During his 2009 freshman season at Clarendon, Braxton batted .320, hit 8 homeruns and drove in 41 runs.

11th Annual Shaping the Future Conference

The Friday workshop given by Dr. Walter C. Fleming will emphasize Indian Education for All.

The 11th Annual Shaping the Future Conference will be held April 9-10, 2010 at Dawson Community College. The workshop is sponsored by the Early Childhood Education Department at DCC, the Glendive Public Schools, DEAP Resource and Referral and Prairie View Special Services. The 69th Commencement exercises will be held May 13, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Toepke Center on the Dawson Community College Campus. Dr. Jim Cargill, President of Dawson Community College, the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff and the Class of 2010 are proud to announce Jim Squires, long time proponent of higher education in Eastern Montana, as the keynote speaker for the 2010 exercises.

Dawson Community College is once again adding honor and memorial names to the hardwood floor of the Toepke Center Gymnasium. Names will be printed in 1 inch letters around the main court for a $200 per name donation. Honoring a friend or relative in this way is a unique tribute and a lasting legacy that lends support to all Buccaneer athletic programs.

Volleyball 2nd in the Nation for academic excellence

Joyce Ayre Dawson Community College Athletic Director is proud to announce the Women’s Buccaneer Volleyball team has been recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) as second in the nation for academic excellence.

DCC Women’s Volleyball Head Coach, John Marble, is excited and not completely surprised by the honor. “Academics have always been a focus of this program, we believe that you can be successful in the classroom and on the court. This is a huge honor and it validates the attitudes and efforts of the players.”
