POSITION:  Business/Computer Tutor

DEPARTMENT:  Student Support Services

ACCOUNTABLE TO:  Director of Student Support Services

SUMMARY OF WORK:

Provides tutoring of students in one-on-one setting or in groups for business and computer classes taught at the college.  Students served are vocational-technical and academic transfer.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge:  This position requires solid knowledge of business and computer courses that are taught at DCC, tutoring techniques, learning style preferences, and study skills techniques.

Skills:  This position requires skills in teaching and tutoring eligible students; must have strong computer skills and strong interpersonal communication skills.

Abilities:  This position requires the ability to:  convey information effectively, be flexible, have patience and understanding, offer encouragement, select the appropriate tutoring techniques for each individual student, work with diverse population, communicate effectively orally and in writing; follow verbal and written instructions; establish effective working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, and the public.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

The above knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field and/or equivalent experience.

• One year experience working with disadvantaged adults
