Dawson Community College is sponsoring a Basic Information Security Awareness Seminar. Presented by the State of Montana, this seminar is FREE of charge. It will be held at Dawson County High School in room D131 on March 24th from 1-5pm.
Three speakers will give information regarding security issues that can affect both home and office environments. “This seminar will furnish practical, easy to understand information about making electronic or paper correspondence and records more secure. Extensive experience with a computers or the internet is not necessary to understand the themes we will discuss during the seminar” said Kevin R. Winegardner of the Information Technology Services Division.
This seminar may be of interest to students, employers AND employees of businesses or individuals who want to know more about online information security topics like identification, authentication, and passwords, use of encryption, storage media, personnel and physical security, general user security tips, getting your computer ready for the internet, tips for using public computers, understanding how to use public wireless connections, recognizing scams, phishing attempts and more.
