The Buccaneer softball team picked up a win over Trinidad State Junior College on Monday at Baker Field by the final of 2 to 1. This was the lone win for Dawson Community College in a four-game series with TSJC. On Sunday Trinidad came away with three wins over Dawson.
In Monday’s contest Trinidad picked up their lone run in the bottom of the first inning.
With one out Karissa Fenstermacher singled to start the rally. Rikki Fedler followed with a single to drive in Fenstermacher.
Brit Ceaser then came up with a big two-out single to bring in Fedler. Ceaser’s RBI proved to be the game winner as the Bucs were able to hold Trinidad scoreless the rest of the way.
“We won 2-1! Now we’re getting our momentum together,” said DCC coach Amanda Hall.
TSJC bested DCC in the first game on Sunday by the final of 3-1. The Bucs were able to score one in the bottom of the second to take the early lead. Trinidad took the lead with a pair of runs in the 4th on a 2-run triple. They added an insurance run in the 7th. Whitney Newman went 1 for 3 for the Bucs and Lindsey Speer had an RBI single.
Costly errors early on in game two did the Buccaneers in. After just two innings in this contest the Bucs fell behind 7-0. DCC went on to lose this contest 14-8. Sam Ewalt was 2 for 4 with a run scored. Newman had a couple of doubles, scored a run and drove in one. Fenstermacher scored twice and had a solo home run. Speer had a double and a 3-run blast for the Bucs.
Trinidad also picked up its third win of the day in the final game on Sunday. The final score in this contest was 10-5. Amanda Morris went 1 for 3 at the plate with a 2-run homer. Kristen Delude and Fenstermacher each went 2 for 3 with a run scored. Fenstermacher also had a 2-run homer. Speer added a solo shot for the Bucs.
