Make it a point to visit the Dawson Community College Fine Arts Gallery, also known as Gallery 126. Why? Because there are only 2 art exhibits left for this Spring and you’ll want to see both of them.
Not everybody realizes that DCC has an art gallery, but the word is getting out. Gallery 126 and the ASC library computer lab are in the same place. The name of Gallery 126 is a nod to photographer, Alfred Stieglitz‘s Gallery 291 which opened in New York City in 1905. Gallery 291 was the first in the United States to display the artwork of Rodin, Matisse, and Cezanne. Stieglitz‘s Gallery 291, also, introduced the American public to such artists as Picasso and O’Keefe.
Gallery 126 enhances the pleasant atmosphere of the computer lab and makes it an interesting place to pick up energizing study vibes. From April 14th through April 24th, the artwork of DCC students will be on display. This is also a contest. The public is invited to cast a vote for their favorite artwork. The winner will receive the People Choice Award. So come and enjoy the work of our talented students! A voting box will be by the library entrance. Following this event Gallery 126 will display the art of Amanda Breitbach of Glendive from April 27th to June 26th.
DCC’s Art Gallery 126 is conveniently located on the campus at 300 College Drive in the Room 126 Computer Lab inside the DCC Jane Carey Memorial Library foyer next to the DCC Academic Support Center. Take a look. The public is always welcome. HOURS: 8 am – 4 pm Mon thru Fri, Evenings 6:30 - 9 pm Tue, Wed, & Thu. SUMMER HOURS: 8am – 4pm Mon. thru Fri.
