Fans will have their first chance to meet members of the Dawson Community College 2009 volleyball team at a community-wide spaghetti dinner Saturday, Aug. 22. Activity begins at 5:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Toepke Center on the DCC campus, where players will be available to greet the public and sign autographs.
Dinner will be served by the players and there will be giveaways throughout the evening. Cost is $5 per person or $20 per family at the door.
Season schedules and passes will be available, as well as registration forms for the Little Bucs fan club. Coach John Marble said he hopes to see a good turnout of supporters for the team. “The dinner is our chance to meet you and share with you the passion and excitement of Buccaneer volleyball,” he said. “It is our hope that this event will help build excitement and support for volleyball at DCC.”
The roster consists of ten players: Meagan Young of Catoosa, Okla., Terah Lund of Huntley, Amanda Shadbolt of Humboldt, Saskatchewan, Amanda Krone of Great Falls, Alyson Murnion of Jordan, Myriam Lebied-Julien of Riom, France, Kirby Sabec of Hardin, Amanda Little of Billings, Ashley Eslinger of Minot and Juliana Ventura of Itatiba, Brazil.
Training camp began Monday for the Lady Bucs, who will compete in the Mon-Dak Conference and are part of the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Region IX.
Their first match of the season will be on the road Aug. 28 in Willmar, Minn., where the Bucs are competing in a Ridgewater College tournament. The first home game is set for Sept. 8 against Williston.
