Dawson Community College has received notice from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) that accreditation has been reaffirmed on the basis of the Spring 2009 Regular Interim Evaluation.
In a report sent to President Jim Cargill, the Commission commended the institution for overall excellence and a spirit of collaboration and cooperation. Dawson was also given positive marks for continued efforts to modernize, improve and maintain the physical facilities to make the campus safe and pleasant. The report stated: “The learning environments (at DCC) are conducive for faculty to teach and students to learn.”
Recommendations by the Commission focused upon implementation of a comprehensive institutional assessment procedure to drive decisions and planning. The Commission advised the College that the systematic collection and evaluation process needs to be completed within two years, which further supports the college’s efforts to continually enhance the success of students, graduates and programs at DCC.
